Recently on CBS’ “The Doctors,” the doctors discussed what to do in case of a dislodged tooth. There are several first aid solutions, the first action should be keeping the tooth in milk, or the persons own saliva in order to keep the tooth in the right condition to be replaced, and you should get to your dentist as soon as possible.
The following compiled do’s and don’ts for if you ever lose or dislodge a tooth that needs to be replaced:
Do not put the tooth in any sort of peroxide or alcohol solution.
Do not place the tooth in water.
Try to hold it by the top of the tooth, avoid touching the root at all cost.
If at all possible, place the tooth back in the socket. It sounds painful, but is the best thing to do in order to save the tooth.
If the tooth can’t be placed back, put it in milk or saliva to preserve the tooth and get to your dentist immediately!
