Wine Taste Testing

New research conducted by the University of Adelaide has found that a 10 minute wine tasting can cause significant damage to the enamel on your teeth.

The acidity levels of wine are so high that even a small amount of time in your mouth will cause the enamel to break down, damaging the teeth. The study concludes that for most casual wine drinkers a few sips aren’t harmful but in the environment of wine tasting, the swirling of the wine throughout the mouth causes a lot more contact with wine to the teeth.

The study suggests that people who are frequent or even professional wine taste testers should make sure to use fluoridated toothpaste and have fluoride applied to their teeth at their regular cleanings.
